New additions to MCL teaching team

The MCL Director is delighted to announce the recent appointments to the Faculty of Bobby Reddy and Ann Sofie Cloots, both of whom will join the MCL academic team for the 2019-20 academic year.

Bobby Reddy rejoins the Faculty as a University Lecturer in Corporate Law, after a previous stint teaching corporate governance and company law. Previously, Mr Reddy was a corporate partner at global law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, dividing his time between the London and Washington D.C. offices. He specialised in public and private mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investment funds, regulatory, cross-border transactions, and company representation. After leaving Latham & Watkins, Mr Reddy served as part of the senior management team of Tomorrow’s Company, a charitable corporate governance think-tank focused on enabling business to be a force for good in society. Subsequently, Mr Reddy joined the board of Tomorrow’s Company as a trustee. Mr Reddy conducts research on a variety of topical corporate governance and company law themes, including matters relating to the efficiency, operation and innovation of the capital markets, and the real-world impact of regulatory approaches and policies.

Ann Sofie Cloots joins the Faculty as a Fixed-Term Lecturer in Corporate Law, having recently obtained her PhD in law from Cambridge under the supervision of Professor Simon Deakin. Prior to undertaking her PhD, Dr Cloots worked as a corporate and competition lawyer at two US law firms in Brussels. She obtained a master in law from KULeuven (Belgium) and an LLM from Columbia Law School. She was an exchange student at NYU and Harvard, and visited Wharton’s Legal Studies & Business Ethics department. Her research covers company law and the legal theory of the company, law & economics, game theory, behavioural studies and risk management, as well as digital assets, blockchain and smart contracts. Dr Cloots will convene and teach on the LLM/MCL Corporate Finance course next year.
