What were you doing before the MCL?

Before joining the MCL I was studying law in Albania. At the same time, I was engaged with various national institutions and international organisations. During this time I grew interested in corporate law, and principally in corporate governance.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

I joined the MCL because I wanted to broaden my knowledge of this area of law through a practical course in an international setting. The program did not only deliver what it advertised – it exceeded my expectations. The modules were well structured and provided a wide spectrum of information, which helped me understand complex corporate issues despite lacking previous experience. The Deals course significantly developed our analytical skills and other legal-professional abilities through writing, presenting and working in teams, which are of paramount importance for any legal practitioner. The various events organised by the Faculty of Law and Careers Office enhanced our networking opportunities and gave us a better understanding of legal practice in prestigious English and international firms.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

Having undertaken the MCL, I now feel more confident as a corporate lawyer. I have acquired a better understanding of transactions and have heightened my analytical and legal thinking skills. I have gained many friends and experiences which I will cherish throughout my life. The MCL helped me develop new career prospects, which I hope to achieve when I return to Albania by joining a top tier law firm.
