Herbert Smith Freehills Bursaries 2020-21

Due to the continuing and substantial generosity of the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, the Law Faculty is delighted to announce exciting news regarding MCL bursaries for those applying to the MCL programme for 2020-21.

Under the Herbert Smith Freehills bursary scheme that will be in operation for the current admissions round, two bursaries will be awarded.  One will cover all MCL tuition fees of the recipient, which will be £32,130 in 2020-21.  The other will cover half of the MCL tuition fees, or £16,065.

In addition, Herbert Smith Freehills will offer to each of the bursary recipients a one week work experience placement in their London office. This placement will take place in 2020-21 during one of the breaks between academic terms. Herbert Smith Freehills will pay a stipend to cover travel and accommodation.

All applicants who are offered a place on the MCL are eligible to be considered for the Herbert Smith Freehills bursaries.  There is no need to apply.  Instead, the MCL Admissions Committee will consider the files of all those to whom offers on the MCL programme have been extended so as to identify the bursary recipients.  The bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Herbert Smith Freehills is one of the world’s leading professional services businesses.  The firm has nearly 3,000 lawyers in 27 offices around the world.
