Disaporn Saengpetch awarded Herbert Smith Freehills 2018-19 MCL African-Asian Bursary

The MCL Academic Team is delighted to announce that Disaporn Saengpetch from Thailand has been awarded the prestigious Herbert Smith Freehills 2018-19 MCL African-Asian Bursary.

After graduating from Thammasat University in Thailand, Disaporn worked as a solicitor at Thanathip and Partners specialising in corporate, M&A and capital markets transactions. He subsequently joined Clifford Chance’s Bangkok Office, where he worked on cross-border project finance, acquisition finance, asset finance, debt capital markets and infrastructure funds. In 2017, Disaporn moved to Chandler MHM, the Bangkok branch of Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, where he continued to work on banking and finance.

Disaporn said, "I am thankful for this generous award, which will help me to gain practical and theoretical insights into real transactions involving the world’s best legal practitioners. It will also help me to form a better understanding of the complex legal and economic issues that arise in structuring and managing large-scale corporate transactions."

The HSF MCL African-Asian Bursary is awarded each year to an incoming MCL student from an African or Asian country who, in the opinion of the MCL Academic Team, has demonstrated an outstanding level of academic achievement. In addition to the £30,000 bursary, which will cover the recipient’s MCL course fees, the recipient will also be offered a one week work placement in Herbert Smith Freehills’ London office.

Herbert Smith Freehills is one of the world’s leading law firms. It has strong African and Asian connections and nearly 3,000 lawyers in offices around the world.
