What were you doing before the MCL?

Before joining the MCL, I had just graduated from a five year integrated undergraduate law programme. In the intervening months before the MCL began, I took up a short internship with a leading corporate law firm. I also volunteered with a non-profit that helped implement the fairly recent Indian Right to Education Act.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

I chose to do the MCL over the LLM at Cambridge simply because of how different it was and is from other master level law programmes - the small class size, the international approach in the syllabus and the practical element in the teaching. It was definitely a whole new experience for me - both within and outside the classroom. As someone who didn't have prior work experience, I learnt something new and important at every class, not only from the professors and the practitioners but also from my classmates. Cambridge made every effort to make my time there an intellectually and culturally vibrant experience and the MCL played a huge role in molding me into the professional I am now. Outside of the excellent knowledge I gained, the programme gave me lasting friendships and warm memories to carry forward.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

I took up the MCL fully intending to enter corporate practice later. I am currently an associate with one of the top corporate law firms in India.
